OK. Mr.Kato's proposal is very nice.
However, I have some complaints......
In article kato@cs.titech.junet (Akira Kato) writes:
> o some kanji terminal can not recognize ESC-$-B / ESC-(-J

> o problem of control character in Kanji mode, such as SPACE,

First, if some terminals can not recogize 'ESC-(-J', they are
BUGGY terminals. That is, the terminals do not follow JIS code system.
If someone has such BUGGY terminals, he should say the maker " YOUR
PRODUCT IS FAIRLY JUNK !!!" , and you should get correct ones from them,
so I believe.
Second, the problem " only support ESC-$-@" is gone away, if net people
implement the filters as your proposal.
Snake-Legs: SPACE code is NOT control character.
Mr.Kato's proposal is quite nice. We should implement such filters and
news/mail systems as soon as possible.

No, no. I did not say such at all. Please read my fj.kanji article, once
more.
Now SRA is developing a filter program which converts any kanji articles
written in any code system into SHIFT JIS code one.
When it will be accomplished, True JIS/Convetional JIS/AT& T Kanji/DEC kanji/
SHIFT JIS are all acceptable in our sites. That is, incoming " ESC-$-@" seq'
will be accepted. O.K.?
